(Y/N N Requested Date: The Washington Community Economic Revitalization Team (WA -CERT) requests each county to prioritize economic development projects that are submitted to the county. WA -CERT then takes those ranked projects and attempts to assist in coding through the federal Economic Assistance Initiative. The local prioritization process gives the county the opportunity to ensure that projects are consistent with county and regional planning and economic diversification strategies. RECOMMENDED MOTION (for final action): COUNCIL ACTION TAKEN. 1999-95 3/23/99: Tabled to 4/6/99 Finance Committee 416/99: Amended and approved 7 -0, Res. #99 -016 Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): Res q9 WA -CERT 2/4/99 SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Council INTRODUCTION DATE: 3/23/99 RESOLUTION NO. 99 -016 AMENDING RESOLUTION 97 -062 AND RE- PRIORITIZING WHATCOM COUNTY PROJECTS FOR THE WASHINGTON COMMUNITY ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION TEAM (WA -CERT) WHEREAS, the Washington Community Economic Revitalization Team (WA -CERT) has established pre - application requirements for proposals under the President's Economic Adjustment Initiative for timber impacted communities; and WHEREAS, the pre - application requirements mandate that the County pass a resolution of support and establish numerical priorities for proposals submitted to WA -CERT for 1997 funding consideration; and WHEREAS, on September 23, 1997, the Whatcom County Council prioritized the most recent set of project proposals; and WHEREAS, the deadline for submitting a prioritized list of projects to WA -CERT is April 1, 1999; and, WHEREAS, several of the current prioritized projects have either been funded by WA CERT or withdrawn from the project list and an updated priority list is needed. Page 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the recommended prioritization of all projects received to date is as listed in Exhibit A to this resolution.
