L6-050 2 ORDERING AN ELECTION TO DETERMINE THE FORMATION OF 3 A PARK AND RECREATION DISTRICT TO BE KNOWN AS THE LYNDEN 4 REGIONAL PARK AND RECREATION DISTRICT 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council received a petition to form a park and recreation district in Lynden, Washington; and WHEREAS, said petition met the petition requirements as outlined in Chapter 36 of the Revised Code of Washington; and WHEREAS, on August 6, 1996 the County Council officially received into the record a petition and certificate of sufficiency from the County Auditor, and WHEREAS, the Council also received a signed agreement from petitioners to pay for costs incurred by the County in publishing notice of the Councils public hearing; and WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing on the petition as required under RCW 36; and WHEREAS, the Council's role in the petition process is to establish boundaries of the proposed regional park and recreation district, establish its name, and call for an election of the property owners residing within district boundaries to determine whether the district shall be formed; I NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that 2 this park and recreation district shall be known as the Lynden Regional Park and 3 Recreation District; and 4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the boundaries of this proposed district shall 5 be as set forth in Exhibit "A" to this resolution; and 6 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the election date shall be November 5, 1996 7 APPROVED this 3 day of sept • , 1996. 8 WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL 9 ATTEST: WHATCOM COUNTY, WASHINGTON 10 11 Dana Brown - Davis, Council Clerk Alvin Starkenburg, Acti Clair 12 APPROVED as to form: 13.,E 14 Civil Deputy Pros.
