1 RESOLUTION NO. 96 -015
2 RESOLUTION OF ENDORSEMENT FOR NOOKSACK SALMON ENHANCEMENT
3 ASSOCIATION
4 WHEREAS, the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (N.S.E.A.) is a community
5 based not for profit corporation created in 1990.
6 WHEREAS, the goals of the organization are to improve stream habitat, increase salmon
7 populations in the lowland areas of Whatcom County as well as provide education on riparian
8 buffering.
9 WHEREAS, N.S.E.A. has developed a broad based strategy of habitat recovery that
10 allows implementation of a variety of projects tailored for site specific conditions which aid and
11 accelerate the natural recovery process.
12 WHEREAS, N.S.E.A. mainstay is volunteer donation of time, materials, equipment,
13 private donations from individuals and local businesses and more recently grant monies.
14 WHEREAS, N.S.E.A. has well documented their accomplishments.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council wishes to
16 congratulate the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association for their hard work and valuable
17 contribution to this community. Be it also resolved that this Council endorses the
18 accomplishments achieved by N.S.E.A. using grant funding and would propose that each group's
19 prior accomplishments be incorporated into evaluation when in competition for further grant
20 funding.
