1 RESOLUTION NO. 96 -012
2 TO REQUEST THE PORT TO REOPEN THE PROCESS TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS
3 FOR A FIXED BASED OPERATION AT THE BELLINGHAM INTERNATIONAL
4 AIRPORT
5 WHEREAS, Whatcom County has an interest in the operations at the Bellingham
6 International Airport as is evident by the County's representation on the Bellingham
7 International Airport Advisory Committee; and
8 WHEREAS, a recent process was undertaken by the Bellingham International
9 Airport Advisory Committee to make a recommendation to the Port Commissioners to
10 commence negotiations for a Fixed Based Operation at the Airport; and
11 WHEREAS, the County's representative to the Bellingham International Airport
12 Advisory Committee and the Chairman of the Committee at the time of the Committee's
13 process urged the Port Commissioners to postpone any decision and reopen the process to
14 ensure the most inclusive public process possible.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council to
16 respectfully request the Port Commissioners reopen the process to solicit proposals for a
17 Fixed Based Operation at the Bellingham International Airport.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council takes no
19 position on the final outcome of a reopened process, rather on the process itself.
