ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION.- Recommend appointment of three supervisors to the governing board and approval of this resolution. Henken 3 INTRODUCTION DATE: 11/18/97 1 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -074 2 APPOINTING THE INITIAL MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BOARD OF 3 WHATCOM COUNTY DIKING DISTRICT #4 4 WHEREAS, in accordance with RCW 85.38.060, the voters in the affected area voted 5 on September 16, 1997, in favor of the creation of Whatcom County Diking District #4 and, 6 WHEREAS, RCW 85.38.070 (3) authorizes the county legislative authority to appoint 7 the initial members of the three member Governing board of a newly created special district and, 8 WHEREAS, the initial members of the Governing board shall serve until their successors 9 are elected and qualified at the next special district election in accordance with RCW 85.38.070 10 (3) and, 11 WHEREAS, applications to serve on the Governing. board of diking district #4 have been 12 submitted by several qualified voters from the district and are attached herewith as Exhibit A. 13 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Dick Bedlington 14 Herman Bovenkamp , and Elmer Kaemingk are hereby appointed the initial 15 members of the governing board of Whatcom County Diking District #4 and shall serve in 16 compliance with RCW 85.38.070. 17 APPROVED this 18 day of November , 1997. 18 WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL 19 WHATCOM COUNTY., WASHINGTON 1 20 / 21 Qrown4-av , ncil Clerk L.
