Res. #97 -047 nance or Resolution Number (this item only): mss. .4 9-1 1OLP 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Public Works INTRODUCTION DATE: 8/12/97 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -047 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING TO FLOOD -PROOF HAXTON WAY WHEREAS, frequent flood events in the County create repetitive and costly closure of Haxton Way; and WHEREAS, the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is set up to mitigate repetitive problems that pose a public risk; and WHEREAS, the County Council of Whatcom County considers it in the best public interest to flood -proof the roadway; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council, 1. That the County Executive or his representative be authorized to make formal application to the State for Hazard Mitigation Grant funds; 2. That any fund assistance so received be used for the flood - proofing of Haxton Way located in Whatcom County, Washington; 3. That Whatcom County anticipates its share of project funding will be split between the Road Fund and the Flood Control Zone District Fund; 4. That this resolution become part of a formal application for Hazard Mitigation Grant funds; 5. That Whatcom County provided appropriate opportunity for public comment as required by this application.
