1 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -029
2 ENDORSING THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL
3 GUIDE TO PREPARING AGENDA BILLS, ORDINANCES, AND RESOLUTIONS
4 WHEREAS, the Council staff prepares the Council's agenda packet using procedures
5 and guidelines prepared by the Clerk of the Council, in consultation with Administrative staff
6 and Council Members as appropriate, and shared with Council Members when necessary or
7 requested; and
8 WHEREAS, the procedures and guidelines for creating and submitting agenda bills,
9 ordinances, and resolutions for consideration by the Council have been compiled in one
J document titled the Whatcom County Council Guide to Preparing Agenda Bills, Ordinances,
11 and Resolutions, and dated May 5, 1997; and
12 WHEREAS, the Guide is intended to apply to all departments and individuals planning
13 to submit documents to the County Council for adoption or approval; and
14 WHEREAS, the Guide is a public document;
15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
16 Council endorses the content of the Whatcom County Guide for Preparing Agenda Bills,
17 Ordinances, and Resolutions, dated May 5, 1997; and
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Council will provide Council
19 Members with an opportunity to propose revisions to the Guide at least every two years; and
1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at any time the Council may direct the Clerk of
2 the Council to include certain other policies and procedures provided that the Council sets
3 forth its wishes in resolution form.
