ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION.•
Authorize the expenditure of an additional $63,000.00 towards the completion of intersection
modifications and shoulder widening improvements to E. Axton Road, from Hanngan Road
to Starry Road, including the replacement of the Deer Creek cross culverts.

1 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -015
2 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL COUNTY PARTICIPATION
3 IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF E. AXTON ROAD
4 WHEREAS, Whatcom County Resolution 96 -053 authorized the expenditure of
5 $36,000.00 towards the completion of intersection modifications and shoulder widening
6 improvements to E. Axton Road, from Hannegan Road to Starry Road, and
7 WHEREAS, the developer of the Shuksan Golf Course, International Golf
8 Management, is contributing $94,626.00 towards the construction improvement project, and
9 WHEREAS, during the course of construction, additional construction materials,
10 particularly gravel base, are required to complete the project, and
11 WHEREAS, the final estimated total project cost, including Wilder Construction's
12 work, construction engineering, Deer Creek Water Association relocation work, and
13 contingencies is $168,626.00, resulting in the need for an additional $38,000.00 in County
14 participatory funds, and
15 WHEREAS, an additional $25,000.00 is needed to replace culverts under the Deer
16 Creek roadway crossing, to be paid from County Maintenance & Operations division funds.
1.7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council hereby
18 authorizes the additional expenditure of $63,000.00 ($38,000.00 + $25,000.00) in order to
19 complete the project.
