The parcel in question is Parcel # 380506 - 507452 -0000, all interest held by Whatcom County in two 150 foot wide
strips abutting both sides of Mount Baker Highway, AKA SR 542, contained in Goverment Lot 1, Section 6, Township
38 North, Range 5 East of W.M., Whatcom County, Washington.
Except any portion of SR 542 or SR 9 or County Road #216.
ORIGINATOR'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommend the Council approve the resolution and set the hearing.

I RESOLUTION NO. 97 -009
2 HEARING AND NOTICE OF HEARING ON
3 DONATION OF COUNTY OWNED PROPERTY
4 REQUEST NO. 97 -2
WHEREAS, the following described property is now, and has been the property of the
County of Whatcom, State of Washington since January 5, 1944; and,
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council does deem it in the best interest of the County
and the people thereof that said property be donated to Washington State Department of
Transportation; and,
WHEREAS, The Whatcom County Assessor, Engineering, Parks, Planning, and Public
Works Departments expressed no interest in retaining this property for County use; and,
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Property,Management Committee recommends the
donation of the subject property; and,
WHEREAS, Whatcom County will provide a Quit Claim Deed for transferring ownership .
and also will pay for all costs necessary for the transfer of ownership;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is in the best interest of the County
to donate parcel #380506 - 507452 -0000 with a legal description of:
100 FT ABANDONED BY R/W ACROSS GOVT LOT 1 -LESS CO RD -ALSO 4
ADDITIONAL STRIPS BEING 1 STRIP 25 FT WIDE -1 STRIP 125 FT WIDE ADJ TO-
ON EACH SIDE OF ABOVE, EXCEPT ANY PORTION OF SR 542 OR SR 9 OR
COUNTY ROAD #216.
to Washington State Department of Transportation; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Whatcom County donates all interest held by the
County in the two 150 foot wide strips abutting both sides of Mount Baker Highway, AKA SR
542, contained in Government Lot 1, Section 6, Township 38 North, Range 5 East of W.M.,
Whatcom County Washington, as described above. Except any portion of SR 542 or SR 9 or
County Road #216.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council, that a public hearing
on the matter of the donation of said parcel, under said terms, be held on the 25 day of
March , 1997, at 7:00 p.m., at the Courthouse , Whatcom County,
Washington; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Whatcom County Council shall give
Notice of such hearing in-the manner prescribed by law under R.C.W. 36.34.030.
