SUBJECT.
A proposed resolution adopting recommendations of the Master Contract Reclassification Review committee which
provides for the reclassification of certain positions within the master collective bargaining agreement.

As part of Whatcom County's recent master contract negotiations with the Teamster's Union, a committee process
was agreed upon to provide settlement of disputed reclassification issues. This Resolution accepts and approves the
recommendations of the Master Contract Reclassification Committee and allows for the reclassification of affected
positions. The 1997 total approximate cost for making these adjustments is $60,000.00.

1 RESOLUTION NO. 97 -007
2 A RESOLUTION ADOPTING RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE
3 MASTER CONTRACT RECLASSIFICATION REVIEW COMMITTEE
4 WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE RECLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN POSITIONS
5 WITHIN THE MASTER COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT

7 WHEREAS, during 1996 negotiations between Whatcom County and the Teamster's Union
8 for the Master Collective Bargaining Agreement, certain position reclassification matters were
9 disputed; and,

11 WHEREAS, a committee process for reviewing and resolving these disputed position
12 reclassifications was agreed upon as part of the negotiated labor agreement; and,
13
14 WHEREAS,-the Master Contract Reclassification Review Committee heard and evaluated
15 reclassification requests for 17 positions and made recommendations for each of these requests; and,
16 WHEREAS, the Committee's recommendations are hereby attached in "Exhibit A" and
7 incorporated as part of this Resolution.

19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Whatcom County Council that the
20 attached recommendations of the Master Contract Reclassification Review Committee are hereby
21 accepted and approved as presented; and,
22 AND FURTHER, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council
23 that the effective date of the attached approved reclassifications will be January 1; 1997.
