To comply with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) it is found necessary to change
the color of Whatcom County's road name signs.

RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -009
A RESOLUTION TO CHANGE THE COLOR OF ROAD NAME SIGNS
WHEREAS, in order to be in compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
Devices (MUTCD) Whatcom County must change their road name signs,
WHEREAS, the County Engineer's Office presented options for the color of the road
name signs to the County Council, and
WHEREAS, the County Council has approved the County Engineer's recommendation to
change the color of road name signs to white background with black letters,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council approves
Whatcom County road name signs be changed to white background with black letters.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to replace the
existing public road name signs with the new color, white background, black letters.
