RESOLUTION NO. 98 -071
AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL COUNTY ROAD CONSTRUCTION
FUND AUTHORIZATION FOR THE STRUCTURAL OVERLAY OF
LAKE WHATCOM BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Resolution 98 -016 authorized the expenditure of
$271,900.00 for the structural overlay of Lake Whatcom Boulevard, of which $211,900.00 was
designated for the construction contract with Whatcom Builders, Inc., and
WHEREAS, during the course of construction, additional road excavation and
construction materials, particularly gravel base, were required to complete the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council hereby
authorizes the additional expenditure of $40,000 for the completion of the structural overlay of
Lake Whatcom Boulevard.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
You are ordered to perform the following described work upon receipt of any approved copy
of this change order.
Due to encountering poor subgrade, it has been decided to excavate approximately 12"
below grade, resulting in the following bid quantity changes:
ITEM 4 Increase excavation quantity to 6700 C.Y.
ITEM 5 Increase gravel base to 7,000 TON
ITEM 6 Decrease CSBC to 460 TON
ITEM 10 Increase construction geotextile to 8800 S.Y.
ITEM 11 Decrease Quarry Spalls to 300 TON
Except as provided for herein, all work, materials and measurements shall be in accordance
with the provisions of the contract documents for the above project for the type of work
involved.

in the amount of their bid of $211,825.50; and
An appropriation from the officially adopted Road Fund Budget
and based on the County Engineer's estimate is hereby made in
the amounts and for the purposes shown:
