SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION 92 -015 ESTABLISHING A FLOOD CONTROL ZONE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ATTACHMENTS: Resolution Related County Contract #: Should Clerk schedule a hearing: NO / X YES / / Requested Date: SUMMARYSTATEMENT: At their April 9, 1998 open- session meeting, the Flood Control Advisory Committee recommended the By Laws be modified concerning quorum to allow the Advisory Committee to conduct business with a minimum of seven (7) members present, thereby requiring amendment of Resolution 92 -015 which established the Committee and defined the required quorum. L4GENDA Efi L PROPOSED BY: Consent INTRODUCTION DATE: 6 /16/ 9 8 RESOLUTION NO. 98 -032 AMENDING RESOLUTION 92 -015 ESTABLISHING A FLOOD CONTROL ZONE ADVISORY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, .RCW 86.15.070 indicates that the Flood Control Zone Board of Supervisors may appoint a county -wide advisory committee, to consist of no more than fifteen (15) members; and, WHEREAS, the attendance of appointed Flood Control Zone District advisory committee members is a significant factor in achieving the duties and responsibilities delegated to this committee; and, WHEREAS, scheduling meetings for fifteen advisory committee members is a difficult task and not everyone may be accommodated; and, WHEREAS, a couple of persons appointed to represent tribal interests have not been active members of the Advisory Committee; and, WHEREAS, given the importance of providing the opportunity for involvement by all affected portions of the community, it is advisable to maintain available positions for involvement of the tribes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Flood Control Zone District Board that Resolution 92 -015 is amended to read: 5. Quorum. A majority of the current active members of the Advisory committee, but in no event less than seven members, shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
