.SUMMARYSTATEMENT:
An engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer's
office, and it is found that conditions support a 50 miles per hour
speed limit on Loomis Trail Road, between Sunrise Road and Bob
Hall Road.

AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMIT
ON LOOMIS TRAIL ROAD
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
establish speed limits on certain County roads; and
WHEREAS, a review was conducted by the County Engineer's office; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the speed limit be amended as follows:
95 mph on Loomis T-Fail Read 50 mph on Loomis Trail Road, between Sunrise Road
and Bob Hall Road, Sections 16, 17, 20, and 21, Township 39 North, Range 2 East,
W. M.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to post the
appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be
notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
10.04.080 and hereby amend Whatcom County Code Section 10.04.050.
ADOPTED this 9Q_ day of Nov" , 2000.

SUBJECT: Ordinance Regarding Establishment of Speed Limit COUNTY EXECUTIVE
on Loomis Trail Road
Recently Loomis Trail Road was improved between Sunrise Road and Bob Hall Road. The County
Engineer's office performed a review of the road, and found that conditions support raising the
speed limit of this section of road from 35 mph to 50 mph. That will match the speed limit of
Loomis Trail Road immediately to the east of this section of road, promoting consistency.
We therefore recommend adoption of an ordinance regarding the establishment of said speed limit
on Loomis Trail Road.
