ORDINANCE NO. 2000 -036
AMENDMENT NO. 9 OF THE 2000 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the 2000 budget was adopted November 23, 1999; and,
WHEREAS, changing circumstances require modifications to the approved 2000 budget;
and.
WHEREAS, the modifications to the budget have been assembled here for deliberation by
the Whatcom County Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the 2000
Whatcom County Budget Ordinance #99 -083 is hereby amended by adding the following
additional amounts to the budgets included therein:

SUBJECT: Approval of Budget Modification Request
Enclosed is the Budget Modification Request for the Black Mountain Forestry
Center project located at Silver Lake Park for an additional $8,308.71. As you
are aware, the funds for this request come from the WACERT Grant of $35,000
for two years. Last year they spent $6,691.29.

DEM has received a Federal Grant to exercise the International Hazardous Materials
Response Plan for Whatcom County and Lower Mainland B.C., provide an opportunity for the
Whatcom County hazardous materials response team to drill with the equivelant team in
Surrey, to evaluate the Whatcom County anthrax response protocols, to offer terrorism
training to reponders from both sides of the border and to distribute reference materials
and plans to responders.
Last year's border entry into the U.S. by a suspected terrorist with bomb- making materials
demonstrates the potential hazard and need for cross - border terrorism response training.

DEM has received a Federal Grant to exercise the International Hazardous Materials Response Plan for
Whatcom County and Lower Mainland B.C., to provide an opportunity for the Whatcom county hazardous
materials response team to drill with the equivalent team in Surrey, B.C., to evaluate the Whatcom County
anthrax response protocols, to offer terrorism training to responders from both sides of the border and to
distribute reference materials and plans to responders.
Last year's border entry into the U.S. by a suspected terrorist with bomb - making materials demonstrates the
potential hazard and need for cross - border terrorism response training.
Enclosed is our Supplemental Budget Request related to this grant.
