RE: Amending Whatcom County Code Re Financial Management
DATE: February 7, 2000
Pursuant to discussions which have been held in the Financial
Management Working Group, the enclosed proposed change to the Whatcom
County Code has my recommendation for approval. The previous Section 2.88
as reflected in the Code was developed prior to the establishment of
Administrative Services and many of the functions assigned to the Financial
Management Committee are no longer pertinent. It was the suggestion of the
Financial Management Working Group that the Code should be upgraded to
accurately reflect the current practices of the County financial system and
changes which have occurred over the years.
If you have further questions, Dewey Desler and other members of the
Financial Management Working Group will be available at the Finance
Committee meeting to discuss this further with you.
RECOMMENDED MOTION: Approve amending Section 2.88 of the Whatcom
County Code renaming the Financial Management Committee to Financial
Management Working Group and changing the scope and responsibilities as
outlined in the proposed ordinance.
