This ordinance will amend Ordinance #99 -083 -the Whatcom County 2000 Unified Fee Schedule to include a flat fee for
livestock herders that use a group of dogs for livestock protection.

AMENDING ORDINANCE 99 -083, THE WHATCOM COUNTY
2000 UNIFIED FEE SCHEDULE
WHEREAS, on November 23, 1999, the Whatcom County Council adopted
Ordinance 99 -083, the Whatcom County Unified Fee Schedule for 2000; and
WHEREAS, before adopting Ordinance 99 -083, the Whatcom County Council
made various amendments to the proposed ordinance; and
WHEREAS, one of the amendments made to the ordinance eliminated the
annual multiple dog license fee of $50.00; and
WHEREAS, there are livestock herders who use multiple "livestock guard
dogs" as a means of predator protection; and
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the Council's attention that the elimination
of the annual multiple dog license fee may create a financial hardship for owners of
"livestock guard dogs" that are actively being used for livestock protection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that
Ordinance 99 -083 is hereby amended as indicated in Exhibit A to this ordinance.
ADOPTED this 7 day of March , 2000.
