SUMMARYSTATEMENT:
Due to unanticipated cost overruns for construction work on Park Road,
additional funding authorization is needed to complete project
payments, which will total approximately $4,845,900, compared with
$3,860,000 originally authorized by Resolution 2001 -020.

7 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL COUNTY ROAD FUNDS FOR
8 COUNTY ROAD PROJECT NO. 998002,
9 PARK ROAD RECONSTRUCTION

II WHEREAS, for the reconstruction of Park Road, Whatcom County Resolution 2001 -020 authorized
12 total project expenditure of $3,860,000, including $3,086,800 for construction, $323,000 in preliminary
13 engineering, $142,500 in right -ofway acquisition, and $307,700 in construction engineering and
14 administration costs, and
15 WHEREAS, additional unanticipated costswere incurred for construction dueto extmmelypoor soils
16 conditions encountered, necessary malignmentofaportion of road, and overruns in excavation, imported gravel
17 base material, and riprap rock.
18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council hereby authorizes the
19 additional expenditure of funds, increasing the total project expenditures limit to $4,955,900.
