HomeMy WebLinkAboutord2003-030Proposed by: Consent Sponsored by: Consent Introduced: April 22. 2003 ORDINANCE NO. 2003 -030 AMENDING ORDINANCE 2003 -005, CHANGING THE DATE FOR SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS OF WHATCOM COUNTY A PROPOSITION IMPOSING THE LEVY OF AN ANNUAL PROPERTY TAX FOR SIX YEARS TO FUND FIRE SERVICE PRE - HOSPITAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WHEREAS, on January 28, 2003, the Whatcom County Council adopted Ordinance 2003 -005, voting to hold a special election on September 16, 2003, to submit to the voters of Whatcom County a proposition authorizing the imposition of a regular property tax levy of $.385 or less per thousand dollars of assessed valuation for each of six consecutive years for the continued provision of fire service pre - hospital emergency medical services; and WHEREAS, on April 22, 2003, the Whatcom County Council discussed the cost of holding a special election and recommended amending Ordinance 2003 -005 to change the date of the election to the November 4, 2003, General Election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Ordinance 2003 -005, Section 6, is hereby amended as indicated in Exhibit A to this ordinance. ADOPTED this 6 day of May , 2003. The Clerk of the Council is hereby authorized and directed to certify that proposition to the Whatcom County Auditor in substantially the following form: Whatcom County, Washington Proposition #1: Regular Property Tax Levy for Fire Service Pre - Hospital Emergency Medical Services Shall Whatcom County be authorized to impose regular property tax levies of $ 385 or less per thousand dollars of assessed valuation for each of six consecutive years for the continued provision of fire service pre - hospital emergency medical services, all as provided in Whatcom County Ordinance 2003 -005?
