RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -089
NOTIFYING THE PUBLIC OF THE COUNCIL'S INTENT
TO FILL ONE VACANT POINT ROBERTS FIRE COMMISSIONER POSITION,
PER RCW 42.12 AND RCW 52.14
WHEREAS, on November 13, 2003, two Point Roberts Fire Commissioners
resigned from their positions with Whatcom County Fire District 5, leaving only one
remaining commissioner in office; and
WHEREAS, per RCW 42.12.070(3), when only one member of a governing body
remains in office, the county council shall appoint a qualified person to the governing
body; and
WHEREAS, RCW 52.14.010 notes that a qualified person is one who is a
registered voter and resides within the district; and
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council wishes to encourages qualified
individuals to apply for the vacant commissioner's position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council hereby
officially notifies the public of the vacant position on the board of commissioner's for
Whatcom County Fire District 5.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the council encourages all interested, qualified
applicants to forward their names to the Whatcom County Council Office by December 8,
2003, for consideration.
