SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The County Road Engineer has determined that a school zone is
needed on Northwood Road for the Cornerstone Christian
School. The speed limit is to be 20 miles per hour when children
are present.

AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMITS
ON CERTAIN COUNTY ROADS
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
establish speed limits on certain County roads; and
WHEREAS, the Cornerstone Christian School is now operating a private school on
Northwood Road, 350 feet south of State Route 546 (Badger Road); and
WHEREAS, the County Road Engineer has determined that it is necessary to formally
establish a speed limit within the vicinity of this school; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that a school zone and speed limit be set
and posted as " 20 miles per hour, when children are present' at the following location:
Northwood Road from State Route 546 (Badger Road) to 600 feet south of State
Route 546, located in Section 15, Township 40 North, Range 03 East, W.M.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to post the
appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be
notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code, Section
10.04.095.
ADOPTED this 9 day of Mach 2004.
