5 LAND ACQUISITION - LUMMI ISLAND FERRY PARKING LOT
6 WHEREAS, RCW 36.34.005 allows the County to establish comprehensive procedures
7 for management of county property consistent with the public interest, and;
8 WHEREAS, counties establishing such procedures shall be exempt from the provisions
9 of chapter 36.34 RCW, and;
10 WHEREAS, Whatcom County has established comprehensive procedures for county
I I property under Whatcom County Code 1. 10, and;
12 WHEREAS, at the July 28, 2004 Property Management Committee meeting, the
13 committee motion was to not surplus the house on Parcel 370104 547077 0000 until it is better
14 studied for the potential alternate use, and
15 WHEREAS, at the January 7, 2005 Property Management Committee, a recommendation
16 for disposal of the house was forwarded to the County Council, and;
17 WHEREAS, the County Council, at their February 8, 2005 voted against the motion to
18 surplus the house on Parcel 370104 547077 0000, and;
19 WHEREAS, the Lummi Island Community Land Trust and Mr. & Mrs. Carlile entered
20 into a purchase option on February 1, 2005 to purchase Parcel 370104 539091, which was
21 exercised on August 1, 2005, and;
22 WHEREAS, the County desires to purchase Parcel 370104 539091 from the Lummi
23 Island Community Land Trust for the purpose of developing a parking lot on Lummi Island to be
24 accessed by the users of the Lummi Island ferry;
25 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is in the best interest of the County to
26 purchase said property for S 110,000 plus costs with said property described as follows;
