COMMITTEEACTION: COUNCIL ACTION, 4/26/2005: Approved 7 -0r Res. #2005 -020 Related County Contract #: Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number: Res. #2005 -020 Please ]Vote: Once adopted and signed, ordinances and resolutions are available for viewing and printing on the County's website at: www.co.whatcom.wa.uslcouncil. 2006 - 2009 councilmember salaries SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Clerk of the Council INTRODUCTION DATE: 4/26/05 RESOLUTION NO 2005 -020 APPROVING SALARY A SCHEDULES FOR THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL FOR THE YEARS 2006, 2007, 2008, AND 2009 (AB2005 -089) WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish, in advance, the salaries for Whatcom County Councilmembers; and WHEREAS, the 35th and 54th amendments to the State Constitution prevent councilmembers from voting salary increases for themselves that will take effect during their present terms of office; and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter prohibits any councilmember from receiving a salary in excess of 15 percent of the County Executive's salary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the maximum compensation to be paid to individual Whatcom County Councilmembers shall be as indicated below, provided that the salary paid to councilmembers may not exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary in any given year: For the year 2006, the salary shall be $16,500 per councilmember (not to exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary). For the year 2007, the salary shall be $16,500 per councilmember (not to exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary). For the year 2008, the salary shall be $18,000 per councilmember (not to exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary). For the year 2009, the salary shall be $19,000 per councilmember (not to exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary). APPROVED this 26 day of April 2005.
