SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: F.xecntive INTRODUCTION DATE: 3/29/2005 RESOLUTION NO 2005 -017 RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR COUNTYWIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WHEREAS, we believe the Emergency Medical Service system, provided by the Bellingham Fire Department and Whatcom County Fire Districts, in partnership with the County delivers high quality pre - hospital medical care; and , WHEREAS, the continuation of countywide Medic One is in the best interest of the people of Whatcom County; and WHEREAS, municipal and county fire service agencies are best positioned to continue to provide fire, rescue and Emergency Medical Services, including Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support ambulance transport; and WHEREAS, Whatcom County wishes to contract with the City of Bellingham to continue providing paramedic service on a countywide basis and respectfully requests that all county fire agencies and municipalities agree to participate in supporting paramedic services for the long term; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that: Whatcom County in cooperation with the municipalities and county fire districts, agrees to pursue long term operation of the countywide Medic One program and to seek long term, stable and dedicated funding for countywide Emergency Medical Services. 00 •) f��, 9 day of Mares 2005.
