9 A RESOLUTION IN THE MATTER OF AMENDING THE WHATCOM COUNTY
10 SIX -YEAR TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
11 FOR THE YEARS 2005 THROUGH 2010

14 WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 36.81.121, Whatcom County is required to prepare and adopt
15 a six- year transportation improvement program each year; and
16 WHEREAS, on July 13, 2004, the Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program (Six -Year
17 TIP) for the years 2005 through 2010 was approved, Resolution 2004 -049; and
18 WHEREAS, based upon the need to proceed with actions pertaining to the replacement of the
19 ferry Whatcom Chief and improvements to other system elements, including completion of various
20 applications for financial assistance, it is necessary to amend the Six -Year TIP.
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the 2005-
22 2010 Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program be amended as follows:
23 Add #67: Replacement of the Whatcom Chief
24 Year 1 - $50,000 local funds / $150,000 Public Works Trust fund loan or other source /
25 total $200,000 for preliminary engineering
26 Year 3 - $500,000 local funds / $4,500,000 Public Works Trust fund loan or other
27 source / total $5,000,000 for replacement boat acquisition
28 Add #68: Parking Improvements on Lummi Island
29 Year 1 - $200,000 local funds for construction
30 Add #69: Gooseberry Point Ferry Dock Relocation
31 Year 1 - $50,000 local funds / $250,000 STP federal grant / total $300,000 for dock
32 relocation feasibility study

I BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Engineer is directed to prepare the
2 appropriate forms and file a copy of the same with the County Road Administration Board and the
3 State Secretary of Transportation.
