I 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Support Waterfront Development Project PROPOSED BY Pete Kremen Barbara Brenner Dan McShane Carl Weimer Sam Crawford Ward Nelson Consent SPONSORED BY: INTRODUCTION DATE: ocr_oher 10, 2006 RESOLUTION NO. 2006 -063 IN SUPPORT OF A WATERFRONT REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, Whatcom County Government and Bellingham City Government 16 share many of the same goals regarding Growth Management Act (GMA) issues, 17 particularly as they relate to a sustainable economy and the quality of our 18 environment; and 19 WHEREAS, through GMA Whatcom County is required to funnel most 20 economic growth into the cities, including Bellingham; and 21 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council wishes to support Bellingham in its 22 waterfront redevelopment endeavors, while maintaining adequate county 23 government functions and services; and 24 WHEREAS, the County Council supports Bellingham's efforts to obtain 25 financial resources to accomplish a waterfront redevelopment project and 26 WHEREAS, the County Council encourages Bellingham to apply for County 27 grants and low- interest loans available for public infrastructure and economic 28 development; and 29 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council will continue to support 30 Bellingham's efforts to create environmentally friendly, energy efficient and 31 financially viable development. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council will work with Bellingham to assist in efforts to create a waterfront redevelopment project that will bring prosperity to the entire County and ensure enhancement of the quality of life of our residents.
