Ord. #2005 -056 AB2005 -253 Please Note: Once adopted and signed, ordinances and resolutions are available for viewing and printing on the County's website at: rvww.co.whatcom.wa usleouncit 2 3 4 5 SPONSORED BY: {PRIVATE } PROPOSED BY: Public Works - F.ngineerin9 INTRODUCTION DATE: 6/21/2005 ORDINANCE NO. 2005 -056 REGARDING THE CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF YORK STREET WHEREAS, York Street between Lowell and Oriental roads has not previously been completed as a through road for approximately 15 years; and WHEREAS, though the segments of York Street are now being linked through further development, it is in the interest of the public health, safety and welfare to officially close the road as a through road at or near the point of connection presently being developed; and WHEREAS, the previous and present competing issues of public safety and emergency access are completely and fully resolved by this action; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the County Engineer is directed to design and install such signs and barricade structures in an appropriate location based on the concurrence of the Whatcom County Fire Marshal and local fire chief, which are necessary to fulfill the intent of this ordinance to enable authorized emergency access, while closing the road to all other through traffic; and BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that upon adoption of this ordinance, the County Engineer will notify What -Comm 9 -11, the County Sheriff, the County Engineer and the Washington State Patrol and the local fire jurisdiction of this closure and provision for emergency access.
