Be clear in explaining the intent of the action.)
In order to synchronize the new election systems and to enhance the reporting capabilities, it is necessary to
designate all election precincts by number rather than by name. This ordinance establishes numbers for all the
election precincts. No boundaries of any of the election precincts have been changed.

REPLACING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 1.14
(IN ITS ENTIRETY), DESIGNATING ELECTION PRECINCTS
AND THEIR LEGAL DESCRIPTIONS
WHEREAS, WCC 1.14.010- 1.14.370 set forth the current election precincts in
Whatcom County; and
WHEREAS, the Auditor's office recommends the names of the election precincts
be converted to three -digit numbers in order to assist with the conduct of elections, the
new election management and voting systems, and the reporting of election results; and
WHEREAS, this change will meet the Auditor's office needs and the needs of
the parties, candidates and citizens when using our registration database and when
merging election reports with database information; and
WHEREAS, no changes are being proposed in the boundaries of any precincts;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ESTABLISHED by the
Whatcom County Council that Whatcom County Code 1.14 is hereby replaced in its
entirety with the language contained in Exhibit A attached hereto, designating the
election precincts in Whatcom County by the new three -digit number assigned and the
appropriate legal description for that precinct.

1.14.010 The election precincts for the unincorporated areas
of Whatcom County shall be designated as follows:
Precinct 101
Beginning at the point in Sec 33, T 41142 R 3W, where the international
boundary line intersects the meander line at the west side of Georgia Strait;
then southerly and easterly along the meander line and continuing northerly
along the meander line of the west side of Boundary Bay to its intersection
with the international boundary line in Sec 35, T 41N, R 3W; then west
