The Parks & Recreation Department is requesting authorization to submit a grant application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) to help fund the Plantation Rifle Range Indoor Range BVAC Renovation and the Plantation Rifle Range Road Resurfacing. The existing BVAC system is 32 years old and needs to come into compliance with current indoor range standards for health and safety, and for increased reliability. The road leading to the Rifle Range needs repair and resurfacing with asphalt where necessary and chip seal entire length. A request will be made to provide funds for these projects through the Firearms and Archery Range Recreation Program (FARR). The total cost of the HVAC system is estimated at $250,000 with IAC providing 40% ($100,000) and local match providing 60% ($150,000). The total cost of the Road Resurfacing is estimated at $40,000 with IAC providing 50% ($20,000) and local match providing 50% ($20,000). The FARR Authorizing Resolution needs to be adopted by the County Council and submitted as part of the grant application process.
