(If this item is an ordinance or requires a public hearing, you must provide the language for use in the required public notice. Be specific and cite RCW or WCC as appropriate. Be clear in explaining the intent of the action.) Under the Growth Management Act, the County Council is to consider amendments to the Comprehensive Plan no more frequently than once per year (with certain exceptions). Whatcom County Code 2.160.050 indicates that proposed Comprehensive Plan amendments are to be "initiated" for further review by a majority vote of the County Council. Whatcom County Code 20.90.030 also allows the Council to initiate zoning amendments. Planning and Development Services is forwarding the proposed amendments so that the Council can determine which items to initiate for further review. Comprehensive Plan & Zoning Amendments, 2/18/2015 Sponsored by: _ Proposed by: Planning and Develpment Svc Introduction date: RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -005 March 3, 2015 INITIATING COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND ZONING AMENDMENTS WHEREAS, the Growth Management Act (RCW 36.70A.130) requires that the County Council may consider amendments to the Whatcom County Comprehensive Plan no more frequently than once per year (with certain exceptions); and WHEREAS, the provisions of WCC 2.160.050 indicate that Comprehensive Plan amendments are to be "initiated" for review by approval of a resolution by the County Council. WCC 20.90.030 indicates that the Council may also initiate zoning amendments; and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Planning and Development Services Department has forwarded a docket of proposed Comprehensive Plan and zoning amendments to the County Council for consideration; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council hereby initiates for formal review the amendments shown on attached Exhibit A.
