RESOLUTION NO 2009-050
APPROVING A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE
WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL FOR THE YEARS 2012 AND 2013
WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish, in advance, the salaries for Whatcom
County Councilmembers; and
WHEREAS, the 35th and 54th amendments to the State Constitution prevent
councilmembers from voting salary increases for themselves that will take effect during
their present terms of office; and
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter prohibits any councilmember from
receiving a salary in excess of 15 percent of the County Executive's salary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
maximum compensation to be paid to individual Whatcom County Councilmembers
shall be as indicated below, provided that the salary paid to councilmembers may not
exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary in any given year:
For the year 2012, the salary shall be $21,000 per
councilmember (not to exceed 15 percent of the Executive's
salary).
For the year 2013, the salary shall be $21,500 per
councilmember (not to exceed 15 percent of the Executive's
salary).
