To comply with RCW 46. 61. 415, at the direction of the County Council, it is found necessary and expedient
to modify speed limits on portions of Birch Point Road, Shintaffer Road, Anderson Road, Alderson Road
and Jackson Road in the Birch Bay area.

8 - AN ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMITS
9 ON PORTIONS OF BIRCH POINT ROAD , SHINTAFFER ROAD , ANDERSON ROAD , ALDERSON
10 ROAD AND JACKSON ROAD IN THE BIRCH BAY AREA

13 WHEREAS , the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46 . 61 . 415 to establish speed
14 limits on certain County roads ; and
15
16 WHEREAS , a traffic study was conducted by the County Engineer' s office ; and
17
18 WHEREAS , the County Council has determined that it is necessary to formally establish a new
19 speed limit on various roads in the Birch Bay area ; and
20
21 NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that a speed limit be
22 set and posted as follows :

24 35 mph on Birch Point Road from 0 . 5 miles west of Selder Road to the east for entire length , and
25 10 . 04 . 030
26 25 mph on Shintaffer Road from Birch Bay Drive to Anderson Road , and
27 10 . 04 . 030
28 25 mph on Anderson Road from Shintaffer Road to Harborview Road , and
29 10 . 04 . 030
30 25 mph on Alderson Road from Birch Bay Drive to East Loft Lane , and
31 10 . 04 . 030
32 25 mph on Jackson Road from Bay Road to Birch Bay Drive , and

35 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to post the
36 appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be notified by a
37 copy of this ordinance .
38 Provisions of this ordinance are hereby added to Whatcom County Code , Section
39 10 . 0 . 0 (Q1 ► ( t3btp}plh ', 10 . 04 . 030 ( 25 mph ) .
