This ordinance is to comply with RCW 46.61 .200 and 47.36. 110 to install stop signs, and RCW 46.44.080 to establish weight restrictions on Emerald Lake Way in the vicinity of the landslide area. . Ord . 2009 - 016 Related County Contract #: Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number: Ord . 2009 - 016 Please Note: Once adopted and signed, ordinances and resolutions are available for viewing and printing on the County 's website at: www.co. wliatcom. wa.us/council.. 1 SPONSORED BY: Consent 2 PROPOSED BY: Public Works - Engineering 3 INTRODUCTION DATE : 3 / 17 / 09 4 5 ORDINANCE NO . 2009 -016 , 6 7 An Ordinance regarding Installation of Stop Signs and Weight Restrictions on 8 EMERALD LAKE WAY . 9 10 11 WHEREAS , in compliance with RCW 46. 61 . 200 and 47 . 36 . 110, it is found necessary 12 and expedient to install traffic control signs on certain County Roads ; and 13 . 14 WHEREAS , due to the recent severe weather, a slide immediately adjacent to a portion 15 of the Emerald Lake Way roadway has occurred , and it was determined that a one-way road is 16 needed with stop control at each end of the slide area and potential weight restrictions required ; 17 and 18 . 19 NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that stop 20 signs be installed on Emerald Lake Way at both ends of the slide area , Section 11 , Township 21 38 North , Range 3. East, W. M . ; and 22 23 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that if the County Engineer, using Staff or Consultant 24 resources , determines that Emerald Lake Way at the slide area requires emergency weight 25 restrictions , is authorized by RCW 46 .44 . 080 , to imposed weight restrictions as conditions . . 26 . warrant down to 5 tons ; and 27 28 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED. that when the repairs to the slide area on Emerald Lake 29 Way are completed , the stop signs and weight restriction (if in effect) will be removed ; and 30 31 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install the . 32 appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff is notified by a copy of this ordinance. 33 34 ADOPT p� this 31st day of March , 2009 . 35 <i •\t;t Y C �O *36 • 37 ~ 0 ' cc *I HAT0 .It C; WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL 38 AT,t /.
