This request is to increase the petty cash account for District Court by $250. 00 for a total petty cash account of
$450. 00 for the purpose of ensuring sufficient cash is available to make change for the public at the service
counter so customers can make payments on fines and fees . Petty cash is needed for six cash drawers with
$ 75. 00 in each.

13 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE DISTRICT COURT PETTY CASH ACCOUNT FROM $200. 00
14 TO $450 . 00

18 WHEREAS, It is necessary for the District Court office to maintain a petty cash fund in order to
19 have change available when receipting fines and fees, and
20 .
21 WHEREAS, a petty cash fund for the District Court Office was established by resolution on June
22 12 , 1969 in the amount of $ 50 . 00, increased to $ 200 . 00 by Ordinance # 91 -037 on June 11 , 1991 , and

24 WHEREAS, the amount now available is insufficient and it is essential to have sufficient cash
25 available to conduct cash transactions for six cash drawers with $ 75 . 00 per drawer in said office,

28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the petty cash
29 account for the District Court be increased to $450 . 00 . The Whatcom County Treasurer shall issue a
30 treasurer's check to allow the larger petty cash account .
