RESOLUTION NO . 2010-030
RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF THE BANK REPAIR PROJECT AT DOZER CORNER
WHEREAS, the Flood Control Zone District Board of Supervisors may at any time
authorize expenditures of flood tax revenues for flood purposes, including , but not limited
to, projects that reduce flood hazards and for repairs of the Nooksack River flood control
system ; and
WHEREAS, members of the Acme-Van Zandt Subzone have identified a potential
flood hazard at a location commonly known as Dozer Corner ; and
WHEREAS, the Flood Control Zone District Advisory Committee has requested a
review of an interim bank repair project at Dozer Corner by its Project Review Sub-
committee and has not yet rendered a recommendation about the priority of the work ; and
WHEREAS, the window for in -stream construction on the Nooksack River closes on
August 15, 2010 , rendering a timely decision by the Advisory committee problematic for
permitting and construction of a bank repair project ; and
WHEREAS, the Acme-Van Zandt Subzone wishes to immediately advance the work
at Dozer Corner.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Flood Control
Zone District Board of Supervisors support advancing an Interim Dozer Bend Bank Repair
Project to be paid for 100 percent by the Acme/Van Zandt Flood Subzone .
