6 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PARKING RESTRICTION
7 ON LOCUST AVENUE

10 WHEREAS , Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46 . 61 . 570 to restrict
11 parking on certain County roads ; and
12
13 WHEREAS , Whatcom County Fire Marshal contacted Public Works with the concerns
14 of unsafe parking that would restrict emergency vehicle ; and
15
16 WHEREAS , Whatcom County Sherriffs office contacted Public works to request
17 assistance in defining parking that could be enforced so emergency vehicles can access ; and
18
19 WHEREAS , an engineering study was conducted by the County Engineer' s office it
20 was found that the parking was in a manner that was unsafe .

22 NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the
23 following be added to the Whatcom County Code Section 10 . 24 as follows :

25 No Parking Anytime zone be established on Locust Avenue on the northwest side of
26 the road from the railroad tracks to Marine Drive and on the southeast side from the railroad
27 tracks to 150 feet.

29 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install
30 the appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff be notified by a copy of this
31 ordinance .
