RESOLUTION NO 2013-052
IDENTIFYING 2014 AND 2015 SALARIES AND BENEFITS
FOR WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCILMEMBERS
WHEREAS, in November 2011 the voters of Whatcom County approved an amendment to
the Whatcom County Charter calling for the establishment of a citizens' commission to review
and set salaries for county elected officials; and
WHEREAS, in February 2012, per the voter approved Charter amendment, the Whatcom
County Council adopted Ordinance 2012-008, creating the Whatcom County Commission on
Salaries for Elected Officials (the Commission); and
WHEREAS, in January 2013 the Commission held its first of several meetings and began
the task of setting Whatcom County elected officials salaries for the years 2014 and 2015; and
WHEREAS, on April 29, 2013, the Commission submitted elected official salary schedules
to the county for the years 2014 and 2015; and
WHEREAS, on November 12, 2013, the Whatcom County Council approved Resolution
2013-046, identifying salaries and benefits for executive branch elected officials for the years
2014 and 2015, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to approve a separate resolution for the legislative branch of
county government in order to provide an historical reference for salaries and benefits for
County Councilmembers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the
compensation to be paid to individual Whatcom County Councilmembers for the years 2014 and
2015 shall be as indicated below:
For the year 2014, the salary shall be $24,150 per councilmember.
For the year 2015, the salary shall be $24,705 per councilmember.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that councilmembers who meet eligibility criteria will be
eligible for health and welfare benefits as outlined in the unrepresented salary resolution for the
applicable year.
BE ITMiN.ILY RESOLVED that the terms set forth in this resolution shall become
