Ordinance 87-86 established the Drug Task Force Fund (150) as a special fund for the purpose of tracking
indirect grant funds received from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The Ordinance also established a revolving
bank account in the amount of$10,000. Fund 150 has been dissolved and the revolving bank account is
duplicative and unnecessary. The Sheriffs Office wants to rescind Ordinance 87-86, close the revolving bank
account and deposit any residual funds into the Whatcom County Drug Fund (165).

6 An Ordinance Rescinding Ordinance 87-86
7 And Closing the Drug Task Force Revolving Bank Account

9 WHEREAS, Ordinance 87-86 established the Drug Task Force Fund as a special revenue fund for
10 the purpose of tracking indirect grant funds received from the Bureau of Justice Assistance; and
11
12 WHEREAS, Ordinance 87-86 established the Drug Task Force Revolving Account in the amount
13 of$10,000 to act as a drug"buy"fund with the County Sheriff as the custodian; and
14
15 WHEREAS, Fund 150 established by Ordinance 87-86 was dissolved on January 30, 2013, by
16 ordinance; and
17
18 WHEREAS, changing operational requirements make the Drug Task Force Revolving Account
19 duplicative and unnecessary; and
20
21 WHEREAS, any cash balance in the Drug Task Force Revolving Account may be transferred to
22 fund 165,the Whatcom County Drug Fund;
23
24 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that Ordinance
25 87-86 be and is hereby rescinded; and
26
27 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office bank account
28 referenced herein shall be closed and that any residual funds be deposited in the Whatcom County Drug
