AMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE SECTION 3.06, GRANT APPLICATIONS, TO
CLARIFY REQUIREMENTS FOR GRANT APPROVAL AND APPROVAL EXEMPTIONS
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Code Section 3.06 sets forth requirement for grant
application approval and approval exemptions; and
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the Council's attention that the Code should be
amended to streamline the grant application process and clarify exemption provisions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that

A.Copies-of all 6 federal and/or state grant§applications that propose county direct or—indirect cost
sharing in an amount exceeding$5,000$20,000 or provide require for additional personnel, must be seat
to council at tho timo it is submitted to the funding agency and must be approved by the council before
the grant may be accepted.
C. The requirements of this section shall not apply to emergencies declared by the county executive.
